Chemo Care Kits initiative

We have launched our Chemo Care Kits initiative.

Doreen Hooper of Ottery choir was diagnosed with Non Hodgkins Lymphoma. She has been undergoing Chemotherapy which has gone extremely well and is now completing a course of Radiotherapy. The prognosis is extremely good. Whilst undergoing chemo Doreen was given a Chemo care kit which she found extremely helpful. She is now trying to get more kits together to support other patients in the way she was. And she would like our help. You will see below a list of items.

Hand wipesPuzzle books
Hand gelJournal
Lip balmMagazines
Nail oil / strengthenedPens
Hand creamFruit flavoured sweets / mints
Small packs of tissuesTasty soft drinks
Toilet bagGinger biscuits
Soft socksDrinks bottle
Throw/blanket

These make up the kits. The idea is you can either make a kit up and bring it to choir in a suitable container, or you can just bring an item/items to donate to a kit which Doreen will assemble. It is entirely up to you and this way you can participate according to your means. So from MONDAY 29th APRIL I will start collecting. We will do this till the end of May.

And this from Doreen.

Please see attached photo: ten complete care kits to add to the ten already distributed, & nine mini kits made up using the toilet bags. Still lots of items left – am about to order more baskets and bags.

There’s been a fantastic response: I never imagined we’d be able to make so many.
