We had a truly inspiring morning at the final of the Devon School’s Choir Competition on Thursday 3rd October. Secondary school choirs from all over Devon had submitted their entries and the judges had whittled that down to 5 schools who all came together to perform 2 songs for the assembled crowd and the judging panel.

The final choirs this year were:

Spires College
Uffculme School
Mount Kelly
Exmouth Community College
Braunton Academy

All five schools impressed the judges in their own way and made the task of selecting a winner incredibly hard! After much deliberation the winners were announced.

For our “Celebration of Life” concert at Plymouth Guildhall on Friday 6th December raising funds for St Luke’s Hospice, we are thrilled to be welcoming Uffculme School choir.

And for our “CLIC for Christmas” concert at Exeter Cathedral on Saturday 14th December raising funds for CLIC Sargent, we will be welcoming Exmouth Community College choir.

Congratulations to both schools for their outstanding performances.

It’s such a privilege to see what music leaders are doing with these talented young people. I can’t wait to hear more from both our winners and look forward to singing with them both”

Sam’s fellow judges were Penny Hannah, Head of Fundraising for St Luke’s Hospice Plymouth, Laura Cowcher, CLIC Sargent Fundraising Engagement Manager for Devon and Cornwall, and Phil Day, CLIC Sargent Music Coordinator.

We were also thrilled to be joined by Neil Hough from Exeter Nissan, our headline sponsors, to present the trophies to the winners.
